Not to be too dramatic, but this tofu bacon is completely life changing for anybody who Is trying to cut back on their meat intake. Slices of tofu are marinated in a concoction of ingredients that give it an amazing, smokey, rich flavour and then fried up, becoming all crispy and crunchy. An awesome plantbased alternative that Is easy to make.
WHAT YOU NEED:
1 package extra firm tofu
2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup tamari
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp liquid smoke
sprinkle paprika, pepper
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Press your tofu down with paper towel to rid of the excess moisture.
Slice the tofu into thin pieces.
In a small container, mix together the olive oil, tamari, maple syrup, liquid smoke, paprika and pepper. Lay the tofu in this marinade and close the container. Keep in the fridge for at least 5 or so hours.
Fry up the tofu slices once they have been in the marinade for the needed time.
